Stretching is something some players do a lot, some players do a little, and some just don’t do it. If you look around the internet you will see places that tell you stretching prevents injury, other sites will say it does not prevent injury, and then another place will say the results are inconclusive. I have never read anywhere that said stretching will hurt you or will cause you to injure yourself. So I say do it, you can stretch dynamically if a normal stretch is boring to you. I think stretching is a good thing, if you do it right your body feels better and you can even work up a sweat if you incorporate the right stretches. Like I said nobody ever said stretching causes injuries or stretching hurts you in anyway, all I have ever heard is it may or may not help, so go to the field get loose with some running exercises, stretch your muscles out, and then start your throwing program. It may or may not help you but it surely won’t hurt you so you should error on the side of caution.
If any readers have any good thoughts on this or any of you are strength coaches let me know how you feel about stretching.
